Welcome to the second issue of Your Path To Transformation.

We’ve got two more articles in this issue.

It took me a little while to get back on track. After being away for so long, I fell out of the habit of keeping to a writing schedule.

One of the most powerful tools in anything you do, whether it’s self-improvement, running a business, or just life in general is the power of habit. Next issue I’ll have an article on the power of yout habits.

The Duke of Wellington, said it best. “Habit is ten times nature.”

I’ve included an article by Dr. Laura De Giorgio of Deep Trance Now in this issue.

One of the things that holds us back is failing to realize how powerful we really are. In a book on Raja Yoga I read the statement that, “Thoughts are the most powerful force on Earth.”

I’d like to expand that a say that thoughts are the most poweful force in the Universe.

Enough of my feeble ramblings. On with the show.

Control Your Mind. Control Your Destiny
by John Colanzi

You’re ready to make positive changes in your life and the doom and gloom crowd feels they have to protect you from yourself. It’s even worse when it’s those closest to you.* Your Friends* Your Relatives* Your Parents* Your Spouse

Their opinions are hard to ignore, because they sincerely think they’re helping you.

You’re bubbling with enthusiasm over your new program for self improvement.

You’re so excited you have to share the news with your friends and family.

That’s your first mistake.

The negatives start chipping away at your resolve.

“Don’t be foolish, don’t you realize how bad the economy is?”

“Are you serious? You know all those self – improvement programs are a scam.”

For every positive thought you have, they have a counter thought.

They love you too much to allow you to fill your head with such foolishness.

So how can you take control of your mind and avoid having them rain on your parade?

The first step is to keep your own council. Keep your plans to yourself.

They’ll notice the positive changes soon enough.

Your second step is to get out your shovel and bury the doom and gloom.

Become a “good news” merchant starting now.

You’re being pounded every day with bad news.

It’s said that bad news travels the globe while good news is still putting its shoes on.

Don‘t give bad news time to take root.

The economy doesn’t control your success.

The president doesn’t control your success.

Remember, you control your success or failure.

Start acting like those little monkeys.

* See no evil

* Hear no evil

* Speak no evil

Your third step is to spend less time with the doom and gloom crowd. Spend more time with those who are doing what you want to do and going where you want to go.

Start modeling yourself after the successful.

Start reading the autobiographies of the most successful individuals past and present.

You’ll find that they all have common traits.

Fill your mind with good news and successful images.

Grab a notebook or some 3 x 5 cards and post some positive quotes to feed your head every day.

We are bombarded 24 … 7 … 365 with can’t, impossible and so many other negatives. We absorb them without even realizing what’s happening.

James Allen, in “As A Man Thinketh,” compares the task of controlling your mind to that of a master gardener.

You have to grab the negative weeds by their roots and rip them out. Start planting positive thoughts in their place and watch your garden flourish.

Take control of your mind and you’ve taken the first step on your road to success.

Bullet – proof your mind.

The choice is yours.

Your future hangs in the balance.

Doing The Impossible
By Dr. Laura DiGiorgio

By “impossible” I am referring to something that you’d like to be, have or do, but it currently seems like way out of reach, and as much as you genuinely desire to live that dream, it appears impossible to you. The purpose of this article is to show you the process necessary to overcome the “impossible” barrier and to open the way for the realization of your “impossible” dreams.

* * *
Alice laughed. ‘There’s no use trying” she said. “One can’t believe impossible things”.

“I daresay you haven’t had much practice”, said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

- “Through the Looking Glass” by Lewis Carroll

* * *

Everything anyone has ever accomplished in life began with a dream, with an idea. It doesn’t matter if the person desired to create financial wealth, to heal himself from terminal illness, to attract that special someone, to influence others using mind-power, to play a music instrument, to use telepathy, to teleport, to levitate, to manifest money out of thin air (universal substance), to create an airplane or a TV or a computer or Internet – it all began with an idea.

You may have a tendency to distinguish between what you consider to be impossible for you, and what you believe to be impossible based on general opinion (or rather general ignorance of a specific culture relating to what a man is capable to accomplish).

Once upon a time, the idea of a radio or TV was considered impossible. One brave man, whose best friends took him to psychiatric hospital to be examined after he announced that he had discovered a way to transmit sound and pictures through the ether – persisted. And thanks to him, today we can all share the blessings of his “impossible dream”.

Any invention we enjoy today came about because someone was brave enough to follow his heart and his dream, in spite of everyone else’s opinion that this man (or a woman) lost his mind and was just chasing an “impossible dream”.

There are many abilities that small pockets of humanity have developed through practice, yet to most people even the existence of these abilities is unknown, or seems possible only within the realm of science fiction.

Then there are experiences you’d like to have, and which you know that are possible for others because others have accomplished them, but you have no idea how to go about creating these experiences for yourself . So, they seem totally out of reach – they are your “impossible” dreams.
The process for realizing any type of “impossible dream” is the same.

The first requirement is that YOU MUST WANT IT. It has to be YOUR DREAM, not someone else’s dream. The idea of accomplishing this “impossible” dream has to be EXCITING to you. It is not enough that you merely wish you had that experience, you must DESIRE it with your entire being. You have to FEEL the FIRE of that DESIRE burning with you, consuming your entire being. It’s this fire that will BURN AWAY and consume all the obstacles in your way.
Then you must DECIDE that you’re going to have it no matter what, even if you don’t have a clue how it’s going to come about. “HOW” is really not the part you need to concern yourself with. It’s not part of your job. “WHEN” is also not the part you need to concern yourself with.

Your sheer DETERMINATION to get your outcome will open the way for the “how”. You must then ACT. You must be WILLING TO DO whatever it takes to bring this about. IF you’ve DONE ALL you knew how and were capable of doing, the universe will fill out the missing parts – it will provide you with whatever it takes to make your impossible dream possible.

If you need greater strength, it will be supplied. Ever heard of a mother who, in order to save the life of her small child that wondered under a huge truck, was able to single handedly lift it? This “miracle” may be contrary to the physical laws, but is not contrary to the spiritual laws. What happened was that in that moment of need and total surrender, she merged totally with the universal energy, like a drop of water merges with an ocean, and partakes of its strength and power. She opened herself to power, and the needed power flowed freely through her. The power with which she was able to accomplish this “miracle” was not “hers”, it was part of the infinite ocean of energy. While none of us is actually separate from this infinite ocean of energy, we can cut ourselves of through the thoughts and beliefs we hold in our minds (primarily through believing ourselves to be separated and isolated from this all-powerful loving and intelligent force).
If you need food, it will be supplied. If you need money it will be supplied. If you need time it will be supplied. If you need information, it will be supplied. The supply doesn’t come out of nothing – it comes through “exchange of energy”. There is always something you have to “invest”. When you work with mind-power and hypnosis – the primary investment consists of your “emotional energy”. You may have have seen the word emotion spelled as “e-motion” which translates into “energy in motion”. You move this infinite supply of energy to re-arrange itself and fill your needs through your emotions of DESIRE, DECISION, DETERMINATION and EXPECTATION.

If you’re stuck in a situation where in spite of all of your knowledge and abilities there truly isn’t anything you can do to get out of a messy situation – the infinite intelligence and power will intervene and bring your outcome even through what may seem to be a sheer miracle – an event that defies physical laws.

There are other laws, universal laws – laws of the mind, laws of the spirit – that transcend physical laws, yet to truly benefit from them, you have to live according to them. I will write more about these universal laws later on – at this point I simply want to mention that just because an event seems impossible according to known physical laws, it doesn’t make it impossible according to universal laws. And the first and the most important law is the LAW OF LOVE.

By becoming obedient to the LAW OF LOVE, the gates of heaven will open for you and whatever you may ever need or desire will gladly rush your way.

To use hypnosis and your mind-power successfully, you only need to abide by laws of the mind because they have the power to over-ride physical laws.
In order for universal laws to take effect, in order to call miracles into your life, you must have TRUST and FAITH. In other words, first you must acknowledge that SOMETHING GREATER THAN YOU exists, which is able, willing and knows how to assist you – if you’d let it. A way of showing your TRUST and FAITH is by whole-heartedly EXPECTING to get what you desire.

The truth is that every single person at some point in his life gets a vision, a thought, an idea of living a dream-life, of accomplishing something that is GREATER than himself, a dream that seems totally out of reach, a dream that seems IMPOSSIBLE to accomplish. This inherent GREATNESS is part of every single human being. And, yes fulfilling this “impossible dream” does feel like “mission impossible” – because you were never intended to accomplish it on your own. And it’s up to you whether you choose to accept or reject this mission.

The purpose of this “impossible dream” is not to tantalize you, torment you or make you feel inadequate to rise to the challenge. Its purpose is to motivate you to become aware of and to express this GREATER SELF in your life, by aligning with its love, power and wisdom, by learning that IT is YOUR BEST FRIEND and that it is always present to help you. This GREATER SELF IS the very LIFE that animates your body.

The “impossible dream” is actually a dream this GREATER SELF desires to express through you. This GREATER SELF IS the SOURCE of this dream AND the WAY through which this dream becomes realized. You were never meant to bring this dream about with your limited wisdom and power, but by learning how to harness the wisdom and the power of this GREATER SELF. Without ITS assistance, the dream will remain impossible. With ITS assistance the dream will be possible.

The whole point and purpose of hypnosis and the hypnotist is to help you connect with this GREATER SELF that is present within you and all around you. In hypnosis, it is sometimes referred to as your Superconscious or as your unconscious (I can’t help it – I just don’t find this term flattering – the only thing that it means is that you’re unconscious of the infinite resources within you, but it doesn’t really do much to develop that bond of trust, faith and understanding of what it truly is).

If you ever stumble upon a hypnotist who tells you “hypnosis can help you achieve this, but it cannot help you achieve that” – it only demonstrates that this hypnotist has not yet had a chance to get intimately acquainted with that GREATER SELF within him and speaks based on his own “limited understanding”. Also, a hypnotist who has not acquainted himself with this GREATER SELF may or may not be able to help you, simply because his own convictions and beliefs will get silently transmitted (thoughts do get transmitted through the thin air, much like sounds and pictures you listen to on the radio and watch on TV).

The way you “grow in power” to do impossible things is through daily practice and through correct use of the power / ability you desire to increase. This is true whether you’re a weight-lifter and desire to be able to lift more weight, whether you desire to master any other physical skill, or whether you desire to master, what are commonly referred to as “supernatural” powers (the development of these is strictly in the area of mastering your mind-power and are totally subject to the laws of the mind).

Our world generally classifies things that are subject to physical laws as “natural”, and things that are subject to mental (spiritual) laws as “supernatural”. Because medical science has not devised instruments to measure the quotient of your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs – when a person recovers from terminal illness through the use of his “mind-power” it is considered supernatural. In physical terms if you can’t touch something – it’s not considered “real” – yet LOVE is the most powerful force and whether you’re on giving or on the receiving end of genuine love, I’m sure that it feels REAL. On my part I can attest that the greatest things I have accomplished in my life are those which I did out of love.

The incorrect use of power / ability leads to a temporary loss or diminishment of power. If you use incorrectly your physical abilities / powers, you can injure yourself and find yourself prevented temporarily or permanently from exercising these powers. The same is true of using your mental powers / abilities. As you exercise your desired power / ability on daily basis and use it correctly, it will grow. Eventually, it will become a part of your unconscious process and then using it will become “a piece of cake”. You’ll just use it automatically whenever necessary or whenever you desire it.

Now, I’d like to remind you that YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO DO THE IMPOSSIBLE. Just about anything you are able to do today – easily, effortlessly, unconsciously – seemed at some point in your life impossible. The only difference between those things you have chosen to master and those that have remained impossible is that you were TOTALLY MOTIVATED to master the first, and with some of them you had TOTAL SUPPORT of people around you (no one ever told you “that’s impossible”), and you were DETERMINED to MASTER THOSE SKILLS because they were VERY IMPORTANT TO YOU – perhaps to your SURVIVAL. There was never a question whether you can or you can’t – you JUST simply HAD TO DO IT. Those you haven’t even attempted to master didn’t seem THAT IMPORTANT to you.

There was a time when you didn’t know how to walk. You didn’t even have a clue how you’re going to be able to walk. All that you had was a sense of DETERMINATION that you’ll master the art of walking no matter what. Failure was not an option. You focused all your energy on accomplishing this dream (yes, there was a time when even being able to walk was only a dream), and what made mastering this ability even easier – not only did you EXPECT that you’ll be able to walk, but EVERYONE AROUND you EXPECTED IT, too.

And you went through the same process when you were learning how to talk, how to write, and how to do many other things that are so easy for you to do today that you don’t even think about them as POWERS.

Then, you started to have some dreams that OTHER PEOPLE didn’t perceive as possible, some dreams that even well-known experts pronounced as impossible. Or maybe you found yourself surrounded with people who attempted to talk you into (and maybe succeeded) shoving your dreams under the carpet and pursuing theirs. And maybe you discovered that this may all worked fine and well for them, but it left you feeling unhappy, unfulfilled or somehow inadequate.

There is a perfect place in this world for each one of us, but to live from that place of happiness and fulfillment, we have to have the guts to follow our own dreams, no matter how “impossible” they may appear to be at a time. The world belongs to those who dare – to follow their own hearts, to give all they’ve got to bring about their own dreams. That is also the secret of happiness. And, a truly happy person will always wish happiness, fulfillment and well being upon others. We all share with the world what we’ve got – what we are – intentionally and unintentionally. A person who truly feels good about himself will desire others to feel good. A person who lives his life in fear will desire other people to live in fear – in well-meaning people, this can take form of “protecting you” from getting hurt. Choose your friends wisely. They can propel you to reach the stars, or they can take you down the drain with them.

Take some time EVERY DAY to DO SOMETHING that seems a bit “impossible” for you. You can only develop your powers and abilities through practice and application. You will not just wake up one morning and become something or somebody else. You’ll change and grow and become more by daily exercising the powers and abilities you have (if you don’t use them, you lose them), by stretching beyond and overcoming your limitations step by step. Begin with smaller ones and move toward bigger. This will condition your subconscious mind for success and the mastery of each new ability will get easier and easier – until each one becomes a part of you, an unconscious process, which you’ll be able to do automatically, without thinking – just like you’re able to walk and talk.

Well it’s taken a little time, but I’ve finally put our first issue of the newsletter together.

There are two articles in this issue. One I wrote and lists the seven traits common to world class athletes and business leaders. The second is by Colin Smith the author of the NLP Toolbox.

I read Colin’s book during the time I started seriously working on my mind and body. It’s an excellent resource and I’d highy recommend it.

Colin takes the best techniques from NLP and puts them into an easily understandable format. You can learn more about the NLP Toolbox at:
http://www.pathtotransformation.com/nlp.html

Another resource that I’ve taken advantage of his Dr. Laura De Giorgio’s Deep Trance Now site. Although Dr. De Giorgio is a hypnotherapist and NLP trainer, her site is rather eclectic.

She has everything from hypnotism to ancient mystical texts. I’ve burned a lot of her free cd’s and listen to them often on my cd player. Take a look at her site and I’m sure you’ll find something of interest. http://www.pathtotransformation.com/laura.html

If you haven’t dowloaded your copy of the Yoga Sutras, you can get it now at: http://www.pathtotransformation.com/Patanjali.pdf

7 Secrets To High Performance Thinking
by John Colanzi

Our minds are like high performance race engines. They have the ability to take us anywhere we want to go at amazing speed. But sadly most of us haven’t done the necessary maintenance and tune ups to enable our minds to operate efficiently.

There are three reasons this can happen.

1. Laziness. Some of us know what to do, but we’re either too lazy or lack the discipline to do what’s necessary to keep our minds at peak efficiency.

2. We don’t believe in our potential or the awesome power of our minds.

3. We don’t know the 7 Secrets Of High Performance Thinking.

In this report I’m revealing the 7 Secrets Of High Performance Thinking. I’m taking away any excuses you have for not Thinking Like A Winner.

As you start putting the 7 secrets to work for you, you’ll notice the effects are geometric.

Each technique will be multiply the effectiveness of the others.

Once you’ve started using all seven you’ll be amazed at how powerful your mind can be.

No realistic goal will be beyond your grasp.

So what are the 7 Secrets Of High Performance Thinkers?

Secret Number 1 Relaxation

High Performance Thinkers have learned to use the power of Relaxation.

They know that stress impairs their ability to perform and that it’s better to take a break when they are feeling fatigued or frustrated.

If you’d like to perform at your optimum levels, schedule daily periods of relaxation exercises.

You can meditate or listen to soothing music or tapes.

If you’re always at the computer like I am, you can take a short jog, or do some exercise.

In essence you should do the opposite of what your daily tasks are.

If you’re a laborer you would relax by finding something that stimulates your mind.

If your daily routine involves a lot of thinking or sitting at a desk, break up your day with some physical exercise.

Once you’ve learned to harness the power of relaxation, you’ll find reaching your goal so much easier.

Make relaxation a part of your daily routine.

Secret Number 2 Visualization

Any task we attempt is easier if we are relaxed, especially mental conditioning.

Visualization is a powerful tool when combined with relaxation.

Many individuals say they are unable to visualize or create pictures in their minds.

That’s not really true.

They visualize, but because they haven’t practiced controlling their mental pictures, they see what they want to avoid rather than what they want to accomplish.

Your mind absorbs what you input and that’s why so many of your fears come true.

You can either control your mental pictures or they will control you.

You will be drawn to any picture you hold long enough in your minds eye.

If you want to become prosperous and successful, you must take control of the movies you play in your mind.

The first step is to make visualizing your more successful, prosperous self a daily habit.

When you first begin to practice seeing yourself in a new light, your rational mind will rebel and the doubts will creep in.

You’ll only be able to hold your mental pictures for short periods of time.

As your practice continues you will be able to hold the pictures for longer periods of time and you’ll be able to view them in greater detail.

If you’re wondering if it’s worth the effort, I’d like to give you an example of how powerful visualization is.

When Ali was preparing for his fight against Foreman, the “experts” gave him little chance of winning.

Foreman was younger, bigger, stronger and hit like a mule.

So what did Ali do?

He went to his training camp and avoided reading all negative stories about his impending defeat.

He not only began physically training for the fight, he began mentally rehearsing his reactions to being hit by Foreman.

Ali knew that there was a possibility of being knocked unconscious during the fight, but how would he handle it?

He began mentally training his body to wrap his arms around Foreman and clinch as soon as he felt himself begin to lose consciousness.

The night of the fight his mental training paid off.

In Ali’s own words he admitted there were times in that fight when he was literally out on his feet.

The only thing that saved him from defeat was his visualization exercises.

Each time he was hit hard enough to be knocked unconscious, his body took over and held onto Foreman long enough for Ali to regain his senses.

That night history was made, through the power of Visualization.

Are you ready to make history?

Secret Number 3 Self Talk

So far we’ve discussed relaxation and visualization. Now we’re going to talk about autosuggestion (Self talk).

Autosuggestion is the simplest of the 7 secrets.

It’s also my favorite.

It’s simply talking to yourself. You pick a habit or quality you wish to acquire and repeat it to yourself over and over.

It’s my favorite technique, because it literally changed my life.

Don’t shrug it off.

It may appear simple, but it’s oh so powerful.

I was in my late 40′s, my business had gone bust and my health was shot.

I saw no way out.

I just knew the odds were against my ever getting out of the situation I found myself in.

Broke, the clock ticking and unable to work.

Well as the song says, if you ain’t got nothin, you ain’t got nothin to lose.

Since I had nothing to lose, I started using autosuggestion.

I admit it. I talked to myself.

Luckily I was alone when I did it, or I’m sure they’d have thrown the old net over me.

I wasn’t even sure it would work, but I did it anyway.

It was nothing fancy, just two sentences I repeated, day in and day out.

The first sentence was, “I am a lot more creative than I ever imagined.”

The second was, “I have an unlimited number of creative ideas in my subconscious.”

So what happened?

At 50 years old I’ve been given a second chance.

I’ve gone from throwing in the towel and preparing to lead what Walden called a life of quiet desperation, to making my living as a writer.

I can work from anywhere.

I make money doing something I love.

If autosuggestion isn’t powerful, I don’t know what is.

It’s changed my life.

Secret Number 4 Goal Setting

Goal setting is actually an extension of our survival mechanism.

All living things have survival mechanism. From the tree, whose leaves turn toward the sky before a rain to the birds who, fly to warmer climates during the winter.

But as men and women we have an advantage. Plants, animals and insects have no control over the direction their lives take.

It’s preset for the survival of their species. We on the other hand have the ability to take part in the shaping of our destinies. We can choose our path.

Our ability to think of the future and set goals gives us the ability to be the captains of our fates and the shapers of our destiny. Sadly most of us tend to shrug off the power of setting goals and our lives end up being tossed to and fro like a ship in a storm.

Our high powered minds are programmed to help us achieve success, but we give it no direction. We ride around with this high performance engine between our ears, and never take off the emergency brake.

If you truly want to become a high performance thinker, you should set goals that get you excited. Your goals should be big enough to motivate you, while still being believable.

Don’t mistake daydreams for goals.

Don’t mistake what will make others happy, for a goal that will get you excited.

It has to be your goal.

Start setting believable, achievable goals. Set a time limit on accomplishing your goals and set higher goals each time an old goal has been achieved.

Set up a reward system for achieving your goals on time.

Make reaching your goals a game, a treasure hunt.

If you’ve got time to root for your favorite sports team, you have time to start rooting for you.

Setting and achieving your goals is the real Super Bowl.

Make yourself the MVP of your life.

Secret Number 5 Whole Brain Thinking

The fifth secret of high performance thinking is learning to think with both sides of your brain. High performance thinkers are whole-brained thinkers.

Most of us have one side of our brains dominant. If the left side is dominant we tend to be more logical. If our right side is more dominant we tend to be more Intuitive.

A prime example would be what we label as women’s intuition. For some reason we find it more acceptable for women to use their intuition and we expect men to be more analytical.

The true high performance thinkers are as comfortable setting down detailed plans for accomplishing their goals as they are at thinking outside the box and coming up with a new way of seeing and doing things.

The true skill is to be able to use either side at will.

It’s sad to see how many writers, artists and inventors have historically ended up broke, when all they would have needed was to use a little more of their left brain logic.

At the other end of the spectrum, you can find many businesses going under because they fall behind their competitors who are willing to use their right brain skills and intuit coming change.

To operate at maximum efficiency, you must learn to be a balanced thinker.

You not only need to know how to use both sides of your brain, you must know when to use your rational analytical skills and when to be more intuitive.

You should develop your reasoning and research skills, while allowing enough flexibility to follow your hunches.

If you study many of our top executives you’d find they have two major traits in common.

1. They are goal setters. (left brain)

2. They credit much of their success to following their hunches. (right brain)

Bottom line.

They are whole brain thinkers.

Your brain is a marvelous creation. Don’t waste either half.

Use it all.

Become a whole brain thinker and you’ll be ahead of your competition.

Secret Number 6 Humor and Pleasure

The Taoist’s have a saying, “The Journey is the reward.”

High performance thinkers exemplify that remark.

They pick their profession, not because of the money they expect to make, but because of the joy it brings them.

One of the most important and useful aspects of using NLP to master yourself is in the art of creating resource states. Resource states are states of mind that can be used to positively re-program your past, present and future.

One of the classic uses in NLP is for programming a state of confidence into your future. Most adults have experienced a profound sense of confidence at some stage in their life. Maybe it only lasted a few seconds and was many years ago. This is fine. The beauty of NLP allows us to capture that wonderful resource and create more of that state, and place it exactly where we desire!

The amount of different useful states of mind is vast and the fact is we hardly ever tap into these ‘hidden resources.’ Resource states include; Confidence, Creativity, Relaxation, Playfulness, Concentration, Perseverance, Ecstasy…. Any others?

Here’s a couple of examples to clarify what I’m getting at:

Have you ever read a book that made you feel really inspired? Where could you use that? How about programming that state into your workplace? Do you compose music? Paint? Giving a sales pitch?

Can you remember or imagine a time being in nature, surrounded by mellow shades of green with soft sounds of birds in the distance and a close by stream. Where could you use that state of tranquility?

And now to the actual technique. Treat yourself to 10 – 15 minutes to do this the first time. As you practice the technique more you’ll be able to achieve good results in less time….

NLP Technique:

Program A Resource State Into A Future Situation

1. Think of a resource state you want more of in a future situation. (Joy, Ecstasy, Fun, Creativity, Confidence, Compassion etc.)

2. Relax down into a trance. (Use whatever way you want to go into a relaxed state. e.g. Deep breathing, self-hypnosis, meditation techniques.) The more relaxed you become the more powerful the rest of the exercise will be, so enjoy becoming more relaxed.

3. Remember a time you felt the chosen resource state strongly. Or imagine a situation in the future that would allow you to feel that resource state. NOTE: There are several tips in the NLP ToolBox eBook to help you remember better.

4. Fully associate into the experience and see what you saw at the time, hear what you heard and feel those feelings. Make the colours brighter, turn up the sounds and amplify the feelings. Anchor this feeling by squeezing your finger and thumb together.

5. Notice where those feelings are in your body. What colour would you give these feelings? Imagine spreading that colour/feeling up and down your body, amplifying the feelings. When the feelings are amplified, again squeeze your finger and thumb together to capture that feeling.

6. Break state. (Look around the room or remember your phone number.)

7. Test Anchor: Squeeze your finger and thumb together. If you’ve done the above steps correctly you should feel those feelings coming back. Congratulate yourself (This is very useful as it re-enforces the idea in your mind that you can do these exercises and they will become even easier to do!)

8. Here’s a great tip they don’t often tell you in NLP books. Treat yourself and make a ‘Super Resource State’? Go back to step one and stack another state on top of the first one. Squeeze the same finger and thumb together! Cool or what? (Example: Confidence AND Creativity.)

9. Now think of a specific situation where this supreme resource state would be useful.

10. Imagine what you will see/hear just before you want this state to kick in. Example: The boss’s door, the eye’s of a specific member of the opposite sex, a blank painting canvas, a tennis ball etc.

11. Now fire the resource anchor by squeezing your finger and thumb together whilst imagining being in the chosen situation, unfolding as you desire it too.

Well done, you can now look forward to that future situation even more. Where else and how else can you use the above technique? (Hint: The possibilities are virtually unlimited!)

Each time you practice the technique with another resource state/situation you will condition your mind to make the procedure even easier next time…
